Happy Lunar New Year from Taipei!

Woke up early to accompany my family members to Long Shan Temple because my brother witnessed someone fell from our hotel while smoking in the middle of the night.

Our first breakfast in our hotel and I'm impressed!

Off we go to take our train to Long Shan Temple station which was only one station away :) We didn't get EasyCard for this trip where we could have gotten 20% off the price we paid using tokens.

Those machines behind my dad were easy to use and there is quite a lot of machines available in every station to purchase our tokens. To find out fare prices and journey duration, check out from their website here: http://web.trtc.com.tw/e/2stainfo_new.asp

Arrived at the buzzing Long Shan square with lots of locals and tourists hanging around and making their way to Long Shan temple for prayers.

Somehow Meng Jia night market (along Guang Xi street) opened really early that day for Chinese New Year, I remember it was around 11am only?

It wasn't our plan to visit this Meng Jia market but we were attracted by the amount of people that headed towards that direction :)

Ikr, there is a famous one at Jiu Fen! But Jiu Fen wasn't part of my itinerary due to the inconvenience that my grandma is likely to face with the wheelchair. This is good enough!

We see all these 卤味 (braised street food) but we didn't dare to try and didn't know how to order. The cart store here looks really attractive but no one ordered while we stood there for 2 to 3 minutes so we left..
(Oh, that's my mum, heehee)

This lamb meat-stew is quite tasty though :)

Oh ya, the yellow rubber duckie was in trend and was selling everywhere at Meng Jia market.

I love this arcade that they have, where families play together to win toys. I spent some time watching them bond and having fun!

I ordered an oyster omelette to try which was quite yummy :)

Then we took the train to Taipei 101 Station :)

Ta-dah! So difficult to capture the whole 101 into our photos!

Taipei 101 was so crowded with tourists, we decided to go ATT4FUN, a shopping mall opposite Taipei 101 for late lunch.

A Rilakkuma shop near the Japanese restaurant we are dining at :)

I had forgotten the name of this restaurant but it was on the level of the Rilakkuma shop (either levelo 4 or 5) and they were the fastest and most friendly to serve to our family with a wheelchair.

We were full from that meal and slowly made our way back to Taipei 101 through the connecting bridge and saw a gorgeous white horse carriage, arranged by Taipei 101 for patronisers to capture photo with.

Then, we took train to Jian Tan Station, which was the recommended train station to Shi lin Night Market. The night market is really huge!

I didn't manage to capture of the gorgeous-looking big sister who was selling these fried milk cubes but they taste good! The big sister was very polite who could speak fundamental English and thanked every customer for their purchase.

Ordered a huge cup of milk tea which tasted mediocre but came really helpful for my unfortunate incident.

These "lok lok"looking stew looked so tempting, we ordered a variety of it to try!

Look at our order! :D

I wasn't careful and my calf got burnt by a motorbike's exhaust. That huge milk tea was useful because after I left out my scream and checked out my calf, my sister slapped the milk tea to cool the wound. There were lots of motorbikes around in Taiwan and definitely a lot stopped along popular night markets especially Shi Lin market.

Continued squeezing through the crowd because I don't want to miss the fun!

Honestly I was in pain the whole trip there and didn't have appetite to eat those food snacks so I settled down in one of the eateries for hot ramen. It was mediocre too so I didn't take note of the shop name.

We walked for around 3 hours and headed back to Jian Tan station to head back Xi Men Ding. Wound check and I felt so awful :(

At night, we accompanied our parents to a nearby foot reflexology center and headed 7-11. Will update the foot reflexology centre at my Day 3 blog entry :)
