[Nuffnang Invite] John Carter Movie Preview in 3D

Rating: 4 out of 5 starsImage Credits to Nuffnang

Special thanks to Nuffnang,I had a chance to go The Cathay Cineplex with Babysis to catch the preview of John Carter last Monday! Although it is a Disney film, I didn't carry much expectations (at first) because it is not an animation kind of movie, neither is it some princess-y movie.

Until..

I saw the tight security measures taken at The Cathay. We had to surrender ALL electronic devices (laptop, mobile phones, cameras) and before we entered the theatre, we had bag checks and body check. They were around 50 security personnel present.

As we entered theatre, the Cathay staff passed us 3D glasses. I didn't know it is a 3D movie and it is my first experience watching 3D. I think paying more to enjoy a 3D film and considering that I suffer from motion sickness, I had fear as I anticipated the movie.

They showed some movie trailers which are also 3D, Men in Black 3 and The Avengers, and I thought, the 3D effects were kinda interesting! It was a big big relief for me to enjoy John Carter now!

This is indeed a Disney-standard movie! The content is very unexpected! Babysis enjoyed as well! But maybe the absence of mobile phones allowed us to concentrate on the movie better :x

Some of the photos from John Carter:

John Carter is really a great show to catch! I'm so anticipating 8 March because I'm bringing Swing to watch with me! :)

[Nuffnang Invite] GIRL TALK musical

Special thanks to Nuffnang for inviting me to Girl Talk Musical!

If you had been active on Facebook and twitter, you should have heard many people recommending this GIRL TALK musical, sold-out Broadway musical at New York featuring the three talented beauties below:

My rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Source: dweam.com

I must say I'm totally impressed by their vocals and their professionalism when they engage audience with Q&A, songs and dance! The contents are all experiences of worried women with humour, emotions and entertainment so the hall is pretty much filled with ang mohs and working adults; majority are ladies. Both Swing and I feel very honoured to be able to enjoy this broadway musical; it is really entertaining! :)

This GIRL TALK musical is held at Jubilee Hall of Raffles Hotel:

Swing and I in the classy washroom:

This musical is actually held between my 3 consecutive exams days and I made a firm decision to attend this musical so I brought my lecture notes along to study:

No photography or recording devices to be used during the Girl Talk musical so I just headed to snap photos with the beauty cast:
Thanks Nuffnang again for this invite for a wonderful mental-stimulus processing (HAHA!) musical!

 Big torso, small calves :(

We missed out dinner while rushing so we bought cup noodles at Mobil while Swing's topping up petrol and this is our new favourite:
7-Select's Chilli Crab

Enjoying cup noodles with VONO (Malaysia) instant Mushroom soup which taste like real cooked mushroom soup! It is a must buy if I see it in Malaysia!

"Going The Distance"

Yeah yeah yeah! I won a pair of tickets from Nuffnang to Bugis Illuma's Filmgarde for the movie
"Going The Distance"!

The first time I participated in Nuffnang's event, I thought I was pretty honoured; not to mention seeing blogger queen, Xiaxue and her bestfriend, Kaykay was on the same row as us.

I doubt photography was allowed and I was a bit late for the event so I didn't manage to take much photos. If you followed my twitter, you would have known Noel was invited to this movie and thank you so much for reserving seats for us :D

Some post-movie thoughts..
This movie is a story about how a long distance relationship worked out. My stand of a long distance relationship is actually quite negative. Although distance makes the heart fonder, it is a harsh test of trust, loyalty and commitment.

My best friend is actually in the midst of a long distance relationship. Not exactly far but it takes a 4 hour flight with 6 hour car journey for this Malaysia location. She is still coping hard, bearing in mind the fact that reception is really bad over there. Your bills are gonna come in heavy at the end of the month and you have to miss your partner badly.

For me, I've never encountered a relationship out of Singapore. But when my partner leaves Singapore for a trip overseas, just ONE day.. ONE day is enough to torture me with all the emotional thoughts. How can I let my partner go elsewhere??

Well, it is a nice movie starring hot-as-ever Drew Barrymore of Charlie's Angel and charismatic Justin Long which might not be really appropriate for conservative Singaporeans(like my Mummy, HAHA) and the younger teenagers.

However, I admired how this couple gave in to each other to maintain this relationship. (Well after all, it's still tough for them to afford a US$1.7k ticket to meet each other during X'mas) How they meet was fate and being together at the end was destiny. There wasn't much sad scenes but the story was romantic and there were humour every other scene.

This movie is gonna be a great motivation to all couples in long distance relationship and also new couples who might not want to get get teary during the movie and end it with a happy ending(:

Nevertheless, I had a great time with Swing and much thanks to Nuffnang for the tickets and also Noel who wanted to bring us for supper but we left straight after the movie. Just to add on, I hate taking public transport. The bus journey was so horrible yet it's definitely better than a train journey home.

Thanks Swing (:
