TAIWAN DAY 3 ♥

♥ Asia Pacific Hotel @ Dan Shui 淡水

Woke up in the morning and I wanted to snap shots of Guan Yin Shan but it was still foggy :( Was already running late so all of us quickly went down to have our breakfast:

♥ Snaps from the coach

This photos show a lot of clouds and mountains (: Enjoy!

Look at how steep some of the roads are.

♥ Xi Men Ding 西门町

Yeah, we reached Xi Men Ding at a freaking 10am and we are supposed to gather at 1pm. 3 hours of shopping is enough.. but NOT IN THE MORNING?? A stall owner told us most shops open after 12noon. It is pretty disappointing :( But no doubt it is a very beautiful place and is a must go for all Taiwan trips!

Lots of such shops in Taiwan (:

Lonely~

The MRT exit of Xi Men Ding

Bought this BIG cup of Specialty Milk Tea at NT45 (around SGD2.20) and it tasted really good!

Must-try at Xi Men Ding 西门町!

1. Xi Men Ding 西门町 - Kong Hee 港记

This Kong Hee shop is recommended by Lilian as seen in her Taiwan travel book. The Tai Yang Biscuits are a little more expensive but after I tasted it... Waaaa! Really very nice! The Tai Yang Biscuits is crispy on the outside, soft inside and there is honey in it! (:

It cost NT350 or NT370 I forgot :X Which is around SGD17 a box with 10 pieces inside. I bought only 2 boxes and I regret a lot - because it taste so much better than the other Tai Yang Biscuits I bought on the last day before we headed back to Singapore.

2. Xi Men Ding 西门町 - Ah Zhong Mee Sua 阿宗面线

This is very famous, I bet a lot of people know! Their mee sua had flakes that takoyaki sprinkle and very clean intestines! It is also famous because there are no tables and their customers eat standing up :)

It is also located at other parts of Taiwan - like at Shilin Night Market (which you can read further down). A small bowl cost NT45 which is SGD2.20 and the bigger bowl cost NT60 which is around SGD3.

This is the portion for a small bowl of Ah Zhong Mee Sua.

Wa! Really beautiful scenery!

♥ Carrefour Company Visit

Then, we reach Carrefour office of Taiwan for their short presentation to us :)

Carrefour Taiwan has a very good way of managing their staff and public relations. They have annual sports day for all Carrefour employees to come together to exercise and bond. And they practice Social Corporate Responsibility (SCR) where they have Charity programmes, fund raising etc.

Some gifts for us (:

♥ Carrefour Retail Store Visit

Then, we headed down to Carrefour retail store for a guided tour on their visual merchandise - where they place their item assortment, how the store logistics are like. Very useful for retail lessons (: This Carrefour is located in an area of many high rise apartments. It should be meant for higher income families.

They have a big ready food section in Carrefour and a lot of customers shop for these ready food there.

♥ Shilin Night Market 士林夜市

This is a must go place if you ever go Taiwan. You can find apparels, fashion accessories, GOOD FOOD over here! One thing to take note: NEVER BUY FRESH FRUITS FROM ANY STORES THERE. We had been warned by our tour guides and traffic ushers that they give you cut fruits and ask you if you want. Once you eat, they charge you around SGD5 for consuming their food with no negotiations.

However, this is not a place for cheap shopping bargains. Their prices are pretty fixed and it is difficult to bargain no matter how many you buy. Lilian wanted to buy 5 T-shirts that were NT290 (around SGD14) each and she asked if she could get those 5 T-shirts at NT200 (around SGD10) each. She got scolded by the seller and sarcastically told her "that is not the right way of bargain! "

HUH?
Then tell me how to la?!

The food there were no doubt very delicious! Check them out below!

Look at this queue for the XXL Chicken!

Never buy this. But I managed to get a bite from Vivien's.
It is like honey/malt coated strawberry (:

We bought this for our loved ones! Quite pricey but very unique!

Must-try at Shilin Night Market 士林夜市!

1. Shilin Night Market 士林夜市 - Fried Quail Egg

This is very delicious! Eldon, Lilian and I loved it a lot and we managed to ask Miao Ling to buy also despite her being very cholesterol-conscious. It cost NT20 for 5 which is around SGD1 each.

2. Shilin Night Market 士林夜市 - 辛发亭 Dessert Shop

This dessert shop is famous in Shilin and their Papaya Milk is also very famous. Tried a few sips from tour guide but not used to the taste :X

This is what Lilian, Eldon, Vivien, Miao Ling and me ordered!
The Mango Shaved Ice, let me emphasise..

Mango Shaved Ice is really GOOD!!

Eldon and I tried their Mango Shaved Ice and it is really tasty! It cost NT90 which is around SGD4.20. Lilian and Vivien ordered Chocolate Shaved Ice and Miao Ling ordered Red Bean Shaved Ice at NT60 which is around SGD3 each.

3. Shilin Night Market 士林夜市 - Hot Star XXL Chicken

Each cost NT55 which is around SGD2.70 and there is no cutting at all! You just have to bite on it like a whole piece. Each piece is twice the portion served in Singapore!

I didn't have time to really shop around peacefully because of the time constraint. Basically, having so many places to go everyday is simply crazy :( I missed out the smelly toufu - but I hope I can try it next time (:
