CNY and Valentine's 2013

CNY Eve

This Chinese New Year is pretty different and I took a total of 8 off days during this 15 days of celebration! During CNY eve, the 3 Tan Sisters did some last minute CNY outfit shopping at Bugis before the night falls to rush back for the reunion dinner!

OMG, blurry picture but it was quite a spread :)

Our Yu-Sheng from Sakae Sushi:

After midnight, Daddy drove us to Bugis to pray. My feet got burnt on 3 different spots by the joss stick ashes and it is still recovering now..

CNY Day1

On the first day of New Year, we woke up around afternoon and headed to Bukit Timah to pray.

It was almost evening when we reached our maternal grandmother's house for dinner.

Gingin (http://ink361.com/#!/tag/tanjinting) in her Cheong Sum which I bought from Qoo10.

CNY Day2

The next day, we woke up around 5am to prepare for a one-day Malaysia trip with many cousins and aunties! I grabbed some of these pictures from some of my cousins' facebook.

We had breakfast at one of the restoran (a Malay word for Restaurant) and lighted the first firecracker.

It was so deafening because most of us stood too close, we got hit by some of the firecrackers parts. After that, my ear kept echo-ing the explosive sounds.

Then we moved on to a temple and bought the cheaper fire crackers there and placed the fire crackers around the incense burner. One by one, every family hung and lighted it up.

Then we went to the next temple and saw a pregnant dog looking sick :(

It was lunch time and we headed another restoran for a sumptuous meal and it came with yu sheng! I don't know the ingredients but somehow they tasted better than the Sakae Sushi yu-sheng.

Then, we headed to the another temple and gathered the firecrackers into an octopus layout.

After all the fire-cracking, we headed to Yoyo Native Food at Yong Peng for a Lion Dance performance.

And they did the Oppa Gangnam Style..

Finally, we headed for dinner at a nearby restoran and it was yu-sheng again. Malaysia's yu-sheng is really delicious!

CNY Day3
So, we went house-visiting at my paternal aunty's house.

This Chinese New Year is special because we have an additional member to the Tan Family, Baby Elson!

We headed to a Grand-relative's house before evening.

At night, we had a simple dinner at Teck Whye..

With our obedient girl :)

CNY Day 4
Accompanied my parents to Loyang TuaPehKong Temple and Daddy gave me a chance to drive there :)

CNY Day 5 Valentine's Day Birthday Celebrations

This day is the busiest day of my Chinese New Year celebration. After pondering for a few years how to celebrate two important persons' birthday, we have decided to celebrate their birthday together with Valentine's Day!

In the morning, I had work since 8am and ended around 2pm. After bathing, I rushed to town to get Swing's present while Yvonne headed Raffles City to get Layss' present and their birthday cupcakes.

We had a dinner at Chinatown's Yumcha before heading to the 10-dollar Karaoke. We had another friend whose birthday was in Feb too so it become a trio celebration :)

My spectacles position looked weird because I had a bad boil infection between my eyes, exactly on the spot where I should rest my spectacles on. The infection got really bad and spread all the way to cheeks. I went Nam Seng clinic over the weekend for two jabs, lots of medicine and draining of the boil. Finally after one week, this nightmare ended but I still have to refrain from seafood and keep my diet light. I had lost 2kg from this.

Last Saturday, I tagged along Swing's family to Genting (Oh, again?) and missed Elson's 1st birthday celebration :( It was a mad trip with a summon from Malaysia's traffic police and had not such luck in Casino. The exchange rate was good thou, SGD100.80 for RM250 at Lot One's level 4 money changer.

Soon, I will be starting school at SIMGE for University of Birmingham's Degree in Business Studies with Communications. It is a rather packed two years as heard from Vivien but I know I need a degree quite badly and also a nail certification to earn some extra income when school starts. I have a great school in mind and I hope to have enough money to attend during the June holidays.

A new year, a new beginning. I'm still practising The Secret and I know everything will go smoothly according to plan :)

Have a great 2013 :)
